Introduction to Medieval Icelandic Manucripts: Lecture

Elizabeth Ashman Rowe (Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic, University of Cambridge), a leading scholar in Icelandic manuscript studies, will introduce participants to the field of medieval Icelandic manuscripts. The lecture is open to the public and assumes no background in manuscript studies. The talk will touch on codicology, illustrations and palaeography.

Dr. Rowe will offer a workshop for advanced undergraduates, graduate students and faculty with some background in Old Norse and/or palaeography. The workshop will introduce attendees to palaeography as it relates specifically to Icelandic manuscripts, including lessons on transcribing. As space and resources are limited, the workshop will require permission for attendance.
