A friend of Petrarch, he is perhaps best known for his allegorical treatment of Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the Moralized Ovid. Bersuire, however, was also heavily involved in translating Livy’s History of Rome into French. To commemorate the publication of the Moralized Ovid in the Dumbarton Oaks Medieval Library, the Center for Epigraphical and Palaeographical Studies is hosting a two-day seminar in which we shall investigate various aspects of Bersuire’s scholarship. The speakers, Marek Thue Kretschmer, Pablo Piqueras, David Hult, Irene Salvo and Frank Coulson have all published extensively on Bersuire. Coulson and Piqueras have recently brought out new editions and translations of the Moralized Ovid, and Kretschmer is at work on a critical edition of the Paris version of the work. Hult is completing work on Bersuire’s translation of Livy and Salvo works in the Spanish reception of Bersuire's translation of Livy.  Zoom link: https://osu.zoom.us/j/5037090456?pwd=ZVdpTFdleUNISklYajYya0VRL29wQT09 Wednesday, November 15, 2023 - 2:00-5:00 pm Frank T.
