Visiting scholar: Hüseyin Uzunoğlu
Dr. Hüseyin Uzunoğlu is an Associate Professor at the Department of Ancient Languages and Cultures of Akdeniz University (Antalya, Türkiye). His main field of research is Greek epigraphy in Asia Minor and he has been involved in plenty of epigraphic field surveys, museum research and excavations either as a team member or project coordinator. During his stay in the Center for Epigraphical and Palaeographical Studies, he will study the new inscriptions recorded in the ancient city of Alabanda in Caria. Recent excavations in the ancient city have yielded a large number of new documents, among which a group of name lists stands out. Some of these lists belong to a group of foreign judges who came from many different cities of the Roman provinces of Asia, Bithynia and Lycia-Pamphylia, while the nature of the others, mostly from the Hellenistic period, is still unknown. Dr. Uzunoğlu will edit, analyze and prepare for publication these interesting texts along with some other new documents of different genres.
